He is one of the founding partners of Harris & Company. Ian has been in private practice since 1983. Ian is a commercial lawyer with expertise in share and business sales and acquisitions, structuring and documenting development projects, including joint ventures and other syndicated arrangements.
Ian has advised numerous companies, directors and shareholders on their rights and duties and the operation of the Corporations Act. Ian has extensive experience in the sale of businesses both small and large including complex transactional work related to and necessary for the sale of business assets, shares and share buy-backs. This work often involves the financial aspects of the transaction.
Ian provides developers with a complete and co-ordinated legal service, including acting on site acquisition, advice on negotiation and documentation of arrangements with applicable authorities and project consultants, review and negotiation of finance and equity ownership agreements, negotiation of building contracts, advising on building disputes, leasing and eventual on-sale of projects.
Ian also regularly prepares a wide variety of commercial agreements and provides advice on trusts and stamp duty to a number of accounting firms and other clients.
